About the Author
Wendell Odom, CCIE No. 1624 (Emeritus), has been in the networking industry since 1981. He has worked as a network engineer, consultant, systems engineer, instructor, and course developer; he currently works writing and creating certification study tools. This book is his 27th edition of some product for Pearson, and he is the author of all editions of the CCNA R&S and CCENT Cert Guides from Cisco Press. He has written books about topics from networking basics, certification guides throughout the years for CCENT, CCNA R&S, CCNA DC, CCNP ROUTE, CCNP QoS, and CCIE R&S. He helped develop the popular Pearson Network Simulator. He maintains study tools, links to his blogs, and other resources at www.certskills.com.

The information is concise and to the point.

As always, Wendell Odom's CCNA book set is the one to turn to for any CCNA exam. I run a training company that teaches 15 - 20 people in CCNA courses a month and these are the books that we always hand out with the course. The information is concise and to the point. Everything that you need to know for your CCNA exam is contained in these books. Don't forget to practice with hands on labs as well.

Dry read but detailed

In-depth reading material but it's an extremely dry read - I have fallen asleep multiple times after trying to read this book. The labs the books come with are pretty cool and take you through a logical process but I find myself skipping a lot of the information in the lab because it seems cut and pastey to me. I wish it came with more labs though because that's my favorite part; it was around 23 I think and you have the option of purchasing the rest.

Extreamly well written material for CCNA Exam preparation (complete and pretty straightforward), with good practicing excercises as well. It gives you all the hints and even helps you trace and track your study plan. All you have to do is follow one of the suggested paths (book by book or mixed path) and I'm sure the CCNA certification will be a matter of time.
