Great Textbook!

Explains the principles very well, and a lot of good examples to support the text. I used this textbook for my Fall 2012 Enterprise Information Systems class. Excellent buy!

Horrible textbook!

I had to purchase this book for a college computer class and found it to be a horrible book. There are many grammar errors that make it hard to focus on the information at times. Every other sentence contains a reference to something that will be explained in a later chapter. This is frustrating and shows how poorly organized the book truly is. I wouldn't recommend this book at all!

Very useful book!

This is a previous version which is great to use to gain an understanding of the technology issues faced by companies today as they seek to improve their technological systems as a method of providing better customer service as well as improving upon the products offered to their customers. Great book. There are a number of really great examples listed in the book.

Just before his 13th birthday, Obi-Wan Kenobi left Yoda and the other teachers at the Jedi Temple. But he wasn't supposed to become a Padawan, a future Jedi Knight, he was assigned to be a farmer! Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force joins the headstrong Obi-Wan a few weeks before he's to turn 13, when he'll be too old to begin training as a Jedi Knight. Trying too hard to become Qui-Gon Jinn's Padawan, Obi-Wan shows his lack of discipline, and that--in addition to Qui-Gon's mysterious past--keeps them apart. But the Force keeps pulling the two together: Obi-Wan resigns himself to the Jedi Agricultural Corps on barren Bandomeer, only to find that Qui-Gon is on a mission to the same planet. Traveling there on a mining ship, the two must work together to forge a truce between the warring Hutt, Whiphid, and Arconan miners on board. The inexperienced Obi-Wan stirs up trouble but gets plenty of chances to redeem himself later--after the pirates attack and after the ship crash-lands on a hostile planet with the crew still at each other's throats. good introduction to beloved characters

This is the first book in the Jedi Apprentice series, which details the relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. In this first instalment, Obi-Wan is feeling desperate because he has one month to be chosen as a Knight's Padawan or else his Jedi training must stop. He clings to the hope that Qui-Gon will take him on, but Jinn has painful memories of an earlier apprentice, Xanatos, that keep him from wanting to take on another. Still, as Yoda explains to his friend, sometimes fate decides things for us, and he turns out to be right as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan find themselves travelling together on a ship fraught with danger.
Since we know how this will all turn out eventually, what becomes important is the journey, and this first in the series is an enjoyable introduction to three great characters -- Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Yoda. The situations are interesting and the other characters are realistic, but the heart of the story lies in the excitement of seeing Jinn and Kenobi taking their first tentative steps toward a partnership. Great fun!

Great insights into the training of a Jedi. My favorite parts are learning about the beginings of Obi-Wan Jedi carreer and his training. Being of the old Star Wars school, Qui-Gon Jinn is not as interesting to me as Obi-Wan.
The only problem I have with this book is the price. I didn't realize just how short it was. It took me just an evening to finish. I also had the next book and read it the next night. It seems that these books should have been put together into a much larger book. I felt a little ripped off. I'm going to get the rest of the series from the library:o)

Excellent must have for the Star Wars Fan!

This book is the start of the life of one of the most famous Jedi Knights, Obiwan Kenobi. Learn how he ALMOST did not become a Jedi Knight and then finally teaming up to become a padawan under Quigon Jinn! Also read about the adventures of them against Xanatos, Quigon's ex padawan who was succumbed to the Dark Side. I guarantee you won't put the book down once you pick it up.
Kindly note: Better have the sequel books of the Jedi Apprentice series ready or you will be sulking until they arrive.
