A good supplement if you have the right prerequisites

This Schaum's outline is a better reference and source of examples and problems than it is a stand-alone tutorial. It does a pretty good job of outlining the material and kinds of problems you need to solve in a course on mechanical vibrations, but the explanations fall somewhat short. Also, remember that to understand this material you should already be familiar with matrix algebra, calculus, and both partial and differential equations, as well as your engineering mechanics. The wave equation and even Lagrangian dynamics are mentioned, and you are going to need to already understand those subjects if the problems in this book are going to make any sense. If you want a good cheap textbook on the subject that does a great job of explaining everything, I recommend "Mechanical Vibrations", by Hartog and published by Dover. That book was written many years ago, but it is still better than the expensive newer texts on the subject. In summary, buy Hartog for the explanation, buy this Schaum's outline for practice problems and a quick reference. You'll wind up with two books that comprise a self-contained course on mechanical vibrations for a total cost of less than thirty dollars.

Excelent book

It is an excellent complement for exercising when you have strong theoretical fundamentals. This IS NOT a book for having as a reference for theoretical stuff. The mechanical vibration theory is very well explained on other textbooks like Mechanical Vibrations (Dover Books on Engineering) or Vibration Problems In Engineering, 2nd Edition. The difference lays on that the great number of solved exercises allows you to gain a lot of practice and to reinforce your study on the topic.

I found this to be useful as an aid to understanding the topic as well as learning how to set-up and perform the necessary calculations. As with any topic, especially in the sciences, it is not the best singular source of information regarding mechanical vibrations.

Witty and relatable

This is the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last. The characters are easy to relate to and I loved the plot. The book is well written with plenty of laugh out loud moments. It follows Lyn, who has no choice but to come to terms with what's happened and make a fresh start. I thought I knew how it would end but I was wrong. Stevie kept me guessing right until the end. Highly recommended.

A fun romp!

I enjoyed this fun romp through menopause. It was well written and didn't have a rapid-fire pace. Lyn has lost her libido due to menopause, but her husband has needs that result in a baby with another woman. They divorce.

I loved how Lyn jumped in and began to construct a new life for herself while maintaining her sunny disposition. She buys a business, makes new friends, and meets a new man. He's terrific, but she still has feelings for her ex-husband.

In the end, I would have made different choices than those that Lyn made, but I respected her and liked her. I would love to be her friend.

An entertaining read

Lyn’s husband dumps her after 35 years of marriage and she starts her new life by moving and joining an online dating site. Of course, her ex gets wind of it and suddenly she’s looking attractive again. It’s a familiar scenario, cleverly told in the author’s unique style, which is witty and very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Very helpful survey.

This book provides a very good, basic framework for looking at many of the major Christian denominations in America, as well as a brief look at other world religions in America. I used this book in a "Religion and Popular Culture" class in college, and am now using it to teach a class at my church. The book also has very good study questions, and many good website links.

This is the book on relgion that I've been looking for. I am a newly ordained Minister. I wanted to know about differant customs of Christian and non- Christian religians This book covers them all. Lots of information, and well written. Love it.

This book is in good condition-I had no problems ordering it and recieving it. "Religion In America" is good for an overview of different religions and takes a relatively non-biased approach.
