A book to tide us over until the next book in the series.

As a fan of Kylie Chan's work, I've found it hard to wait for her next book, Demon Child. Chan released this very short book as a way to move some plot elements forward and to help her fans survive while Black Jade was being written, edited and distributed. The Gravity Engine did was it was supposed to do for me. It offered a more complete picture of Michael, the number one son of the Emperor of the West, and the love of his life. It also described some of back story for the places and people shown in the book Black Serpent. To enjoy this book more, it would be good to start with other books by Chan. It does, however, stand on its own enough to be an interesting, albeit short, read

Great read with a few loose ends.

The writing and story is great as usual. In this story we find Prince Michael invited to the western heavens were we he finds out some maybe truths about his mom and fiancee. It is these maybe truths that had me give this story 4 stars simply because i don't think they are really cleared up by the end of the story. Also Prince Michael makes a mistake at the end that kind of feels like something his character wouldn't have done from the other novels. But overall a great addition to Kylie Chan's world of Gods and Demons.

Not a good intro to the universe....

This book was something of a disappointment, because nothing really happened. I have enjoyed the other books in the three trilogies by Kylie Chan (waiting the third book of the third trilogy in September 2016) and thought I would read this one to fill the time. Anyone who has NOT read the main series will not find this a good introduction to Chan's intriguing universe, but if you have read the other books, for something to wile away an afternoon, it's okay.
